WhatsApp on Tuesday upgraded its money transfer experience in India by introducing a new Payments Backgrounds feature for its customers. The aim of this new feature is to provide a personalized payment experience to WhatsApp users. This feature allows you to choose a relevant background whenever you send money to your friends and family using WhatsApp Payments. This experience has been made live for both Android and iPhone users. WhatsApp says that the core idea behind introducing the payment background feature is to provide users with an element of expression during money transactions with their friends and family through the platform.

WhatsApp has added a list of seven backgrounds under this feature, from which you can choose the most relevant background while sending money to your friends and family. Apart from this, some theme-based backgrounds have also been introduced, including Rakshabandhan. . Apart from this, WhatsApp has also added background to transfer money on occasions like birthdays, holidays and travelling.

How to choose a payment background on WhatsApp

To select the payment background while making a new payment on WhatsApp, you need to tap on the background icon on the ‘Send Payment’ screen. After tapping on the icon, the app will show you a list of available backgrounds below, from which you can choose the background theme that matches for you and your payment. Along with the background, why you are paying, the reason or your expression can also be described in the background.

After the completion of the process, the person receiving the money will receive the payment along with the background.

Let us tell you, in November last year, after testing for several months, WhatsApp Payments Service was started. This service was started with five banking partners, but later the number of partners was reduced to four which are Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India (SBI). Jio Payments Bank was removed from the list in the service.
