WhatsApp is enabling several new features for Android beta users. This includes a very useful ‘Always Mute’ feature, a new storage usage UI and its tools and another feature called Media Guidelines. The instant messaging platform has released WhatsApp 2.20.201.10 beta for Android and it has also been learned that the video and voice call buttons for business accounts have disappeared. The new features have been enabled in the latest beta, but it may take a little longer for some to get used to them.

WABetaInfo has spotted several new features in the latest WhatsApp 2.20.201.10 beta for Android. The most useful feature of all is the Always Mute feature, which replaces the ‘one year’ option previously available when muting a chat. As the name suggests, this feature will allow people to mute a group or an individual user forever. We were able to see this feature in the latest beta. WABetaInfo has also said that if it is not visible immediately, it should be visible to all beta users within a few days.

The update also brings a new storage usage UI for beta users. The tracker says that the roll out started in the last beta, but the roll out was not visible to everyone at that time. With WhatsApp 2.20.201.10 beta for Android, now many users can reportedly see this feature. We still haven’t received this new UI, but it should be enabled for all users in a few days.

In addition, media guidelines are being enabled for public beta testing. This feature allows users to align stickers and text while you edit photos, videos and GIFs. This feature is still not enabled for us, but it should be available soon.

Eventually, the tracker noticed that WhatsApp was hiding voice and video call buttons in chats on verified business accounts. The buttons have also disappeared from Contact Info. Those buttons are still available if you tap the profile icon in the Chats and Contacts list. There is no clarity on why WhatsApp is hiding these chats. This may just be a test and WhatsApp may bring it back in future updates.
