A Facebook spokesperson informed that the hashtag #ResignModi was blocked by mistake. At the same time, he also clarified that this step has not been taken at the behest of the Government of India, nor has it been restored again at their behest. Facebook has called it just a mistake.

The spokesperson said that Facebook blocks hashtags from time to time for a variety of reasons, some are manually blocked and most are automatically blocked based on internal guidelines.
