Performance is definitely of the utmost importance. When the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro was launched, we were curious to see how it would compete with the Realme XT. The MediaTek Helio G90T processor in the Redmi phone performed better than the Snapdragon 712 chipset in the Realme phone and is a good option especially if gaming is important to you.

We have for comparison the top-end variants of both the smartphones that come with 8GB of RAM. While watching videos on these smartphones, we liked the screen output of the Realme XT as being an AMOLED panel it displays blacks better, as well as good contrast.

Talking about the performance, while using both the handsets, we have not experienced that the phone has slowed down. Navigating menus and multitasking between apps was also smooth. We played PUBG Mobile on both the handsets to see how the gaming experience is.

Different capacity batteries have been given in both the phones. 4,000 mAh battery will be available in Reality XT and 4,500 mAh battery in Redmi Note 8 Pro. In our HD video loop test, the Realme handset lasted for 20 hours and 36 minutes, while the Redmi phone lasted only 14 hours.

Powerful charger is available with Reality XT, which can charge the phone’s battery up to 46 percent in half an hour, while the battery of Redmi Note 8 Pro was charged only 32 percent.

Four rear cameras have been given in the back of both the smartphones, it includes a 64-megapixel primary camera sensor, 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, the Realme XT has a 16-megapixel front camera, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a 20-megapixel front camera.

The camera app on both the smartphones is easy to use but the camera app on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is a bit more polished. While Xiaomi has placed the macro camera button correctly, Realme has hidden the different camera modes in the menu.

To see how both the handsets perform under similar conditions, we took pictures with both the smartphones at the same time. Both the handsets focus fast and we didn’t have any problem. Colors were more accurate in the pictures taken with Reality XT in daylight and the detail was also better.

In bright scenes, both phones automatically enable HDR. We liked the pictures taken with the Realme XT as the images taken with the Redmi Note 8 Pro showed more sharpness. Photos taken with the wide-angle camera came out better than the Redmi Note 8 Pro as the images taken with the Realme XT showed a cooler color tone.

The AI ​​automatically applies the settings on these smartphones to take better pictures in low light. We did notice that the Realme XT takes bright shots. During the use of Night Mode in both the phones, we found that this phone of Realme brand gives better results.

When shooting closeups, both the smartphones quickly lock focus and the phone’s AI detects what we are shooting. The details were the same in both the phones but the Realme XT captured the colors accurately.

However, the Redmi Note 8 Pro surprised us in terms of color reproduction and detail when taking close-up shots in low-light. We found that the Redmi Note 8 Pro lets you set the blur level when taking portrait shots, but this was not the case with the Realme XT.

Both phones keep the subject separate from the background and capture details well, but the Realme XT applies a beautification filter to the face. Redmi Note 8 Pro slightly overexposes the background but this was not the case with the Realme branded phone.

Portrait shots in low light came out better with Redmi phone with better detail. We have also tested the macro cameras of these smartphones. Both handsets use LED flash to avoid shadows while taking macro shots.

In daylight, the Realme XT captures images with better detail with and without the flash. At the same time, in low light, the Redmi Note 8 Pro takes better macro shots than the Reality XT. Selfies taken from both the phones were captured with good detail but we liked the picture taken with Redmi Note 8 Pro as it had better color tone.

Both handsets take good pictures in Selfie Portrait. Both the smartphones are capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. Not only this, both the handsets can also record footage at 1080p 60fps and 1080p 30fps. Videos taken from the Redmi Note 8 Pro were more dramatic as the phone boosts contrast and sharpness, while the Realme XT produced natural-looking results.
