Paytm has been removed from Google Play. The company has confirmed that the reason behind its removal is the recent addition of fantasy cricket tournaments to the app, which violates the policies of Google Play. The Paytm app for iOS is still available for download through the Apple App Store. In addition to the Paytm app, Google Play has also removed the Paytm First Games app from its store, which includes similar fantasy cricket features but with actual cricket betting.

However, existing users who already have the App installed on their devices can continue to use the mobile wallet and other services provided by the Company.

Earlier on Friday, Google posted a blog in which the company explained its gambling policy, which does not allow app developers to offer sports betting. This was a feature that was being offered by Paytm through the recently announced Fantasy Cricket Tournament and eventually Google removed the app from its platform.

Google in its blog post said (translated) “We do not allow online casinos or support any unregulated gambling apps that facilitate sports betting. It also includes that if an app directs a user to an external website that allows them to participate in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes, it is a violation of our policies. ” The company has confirmed that this was the reason for the removal of the Paytm app.
