The government has once again extended the ongoing lockdown for two weeks to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The ongoing lockdown was earlier to be opened on May 3, but an announcement was made on Friday and it has been extended by two weeks. Also, the government has now made it mandatory for all public and private sector employees to use the Aarogya Setu app. Apart from this, this app has also been made mandatory for people living in Kovid-19 Containment Zone. The government has asked the officials to ensure that everyone installs this app in these zones. The Aarogya Setu app was introduced by the government in early April and within a few days of its launch, the app has been downloaded crores of times.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in its instructions said, (Translated) “The use of the Aarogya Setu app will be made mandatory for all employees, both private and public. It will be the responsibility of the heads of the respective organizations to ensure 100% coverage of this app among their employees.”

The government on Wednesday made the use of the app mandatory for all central government employees.

In the guidelines, the MHA has also said The private offices in red zones (except containment zones) can function with 33 per cent staff. The remaining employees will have to work from home. Apart from this, offices are allowed to open with 100 percent employees in Orange and Green zones. All senior officers along with the remaining 33 per cent employees can work in government offices in red zones.
