Cyber security firm Kaspersky has launched a new WhatsApp mod app searched Whose name is FMWhatsApp. This Fake WhatsApp App works to deliver malware to the users’ devices. The security firm says that this is Triada Trojan malware, which steals data from users’ devices. As we mentioned, mod apps are developed by third-party developers based on the original app. It looks like a real app, but users get additional features in them.
Kaspersky’s report says that this mod app runs malware-laden ads on the device and some of these ads are such that they keep running in the background without the user’s knowledge. They gain access to the device in such a way that their data is stolen without the knowledge of the users. FMWhatsApp also asks users for permission to read SMS. By getting access to SMS, the fake app steals the information contained in the private and very important messages of the users. They earn premium subscriptions to several services by obtaining the user’s verification code.
Kaspersky has advised users to avoid such clone apps. There are currently millions of Android and iOS apps cloned and modded, which can slow down your smartphone and even more dangerous, these apps can steal your personal data. Many apps are able to gain access to your accounts. In such a situation, you download only the apps available in Google Play and Apple App Store and read the review of those apps first and then install them.
